sorry, saying "they'd be decent" sounded strange and a bit cocky...it's 2am, I'm not picking the right vocab. i meant to say that after finding out you were a journalist it makes sense that they are well written...not that all journalists write well but ahhh fuck it i'm digging myself deeper. goodnight.

Hey! Thanks! I re-read this post and found a bajillion grammar/spelling errors. It makes me wonder if I should go back to other posts haha.

I read some of your stuff too and I really like your posts. They are very well written, but given that you are a former journalist I can only expect they'd be decent.

I'm glad the Bolivia/Peru post was helpful. When I get a hot second I plan on writing a short post about my trip to Mendoza and crossing over to Santiago, Chile and Valparaiso...

Thanks for reading. besos

I have thought about turning my blog into a book or focusing more on how I do what I do. It is a good idea and I'll have to figure out the best way to do it.

I can't wait for your email. Please send me one soon! And include your mailing address because I want to send you something!

haha oh petey. Yeah I do feel fortunate that I can live my life exactly how I want to -- with the freedom to decide that I can pack up my things and go virtually anywhere (minus Cuba and a few others). I've always been this way, ever since I could remember. While other kids were daydreaming about being firefighters and doctors, I was daydreaming about what was on the other side of the world and what size shovel I would need to dig my way through the earth to get there (thanks to Looney Tunes).

Anyway, I'm not too worried about how I'll make enough money. You are right, I don't need much to survive and I don't care if I make a lot of money. I just want to make enough to be able to do the things I want to do without thinking about or worrying about my budget.

Chica,

Write a book, or bundle your blog to make your extra money. I really think you can do that! With the title: I am in my twenties...to many things to choose! And write everything about what you do, so that other people have the possibility to think over their thoughts.
I'm glad to see you soon, well in some month's..but I'll see you!

I will email you soon for an update...I've got a lot to tell!

chau! Anika

Hmmm... Sure lots of folks would love to trade what they're up to for what you're doing Auto - not content with the status quo. Reminds me of the line from Fight Club "You are not your khakis."

Though you need some coin to survive you don't need too much (as you know more than most). I'd just advocate trying to lessen your expenditures as much as possible. If you work at a restaurant or something you'd get some coin (I'm sure you'd get good tips!) and food.

Or there's always the worlds oldest profession... I'm sure you could take a week every now and then if needed:)

as far as safety goes, when i was traveling by myself in asia, i emailed my friend in thailand every couple days, telling him where i was, where i was going next, how i planned to get there, how certain i was about it, etc. it was easy to do 'cause i'd check email every couple days anyway, and it made me feel good to know that if i disappeared, someone would be able to start the hunt at least not more than a couple days from where i last was known to be. not perfect, but better than only a vague itinerary given at the beginning. it's an idea anyway.

I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to the US. I really like Argentina but it's hard to get used to the inaccessibility to things because it's a 3rd world country. Also, trying to get things done in a second language is much harder than it seems. Or maybe I just suck. Who knows. Argentina has it's pluses but I love the good ol' USA.
